The data used to generate the Safety Intelligence Report is derived from over seven-years of research and
involves 9,000 contractor employers. Unlike most safety data, SPP’s metrics include the impact of
improved Employee Screening and Claims Readiness.
Take drug testing for example, a seasoned State work comp veteran firmly believed that drug testing was
the most important focus for his large group of contractors. After 5-years we tested the group and found
that it represented only 25% of the practices measured for impact on claims. While still being a very
important procedure to require, it's was low on the totem pole compared to Claims Readiness. Having the
largest influence across that particular group, Claims Readiness should definitely be high priority moving
forward.
